Artist Highlight: Andrew Stravers

Our artist highlight this Wednesday is one of the most talented and stylistically unique musicians in the valley: Andrew Stravers. Not only has he made a name for himself as a drummer in the nationally successful band Katastro, but he has also started taking his talents to the electronic production side of things.

Recently Stravers  co-produced a 4 song mixtape titled "Golden" for Katastro and executed one of the best vinyl samples we've ever heard. Listen to the drums on "TRIPPIN.OF.MY.EGO" and you can hear for yourself.... Not only is he consistently producing music for Katastro, but he also just released a 4 song solo project titled "Phoenix Nights Vol. 1." You can listen to this funky, psychedelic and jazzy masterpiece here.

Be sure to keep your ears open for new music from Stravers and the gentlemen in Katastro as they just finished recording their 4th studio album with Matt Keller.

This week our question for Stravers was:

As somebody who has been on the journey of becoming a professional musician for 10+ years, can you tell us a story about something that inspired you to keep going, when they future may have seemed unclear?

There have absolutely been times throughout the bands history where we felt stuck and helpless. Wether it was being stranded in the middle of nowhere with a broken down van, or playing a show in front of 10 people. I think for us the one thing that has gotten us through those times is our humor. We are good friends and we always find a way to laugh at any situation that we are in.

Shit gets better. It's rough when you're starting out and it's always going to be rough at times. It's part of the process and learning to enjoy it makes your band stronger as a team.

Be sure to connect with Stravers on Instagram: @stravs and visit Katastro's website (http://katastro.com/) to keep up with their new music and tour dates.
